HD Hyundai Infracore , a construction equipment unit of South Korea’s HD Hyundai Group, has signed an MOU with Korea East-West Power to develop and commercialise hydrogen gas engines.
HD Hyundai Infracore will build a 1 MW class hydrogen gas engine system, integrating five 200 kW units to ensure constant power generation. Korea East-West Power will support demonstrations of these engines using the hydrogen supply facilities and power grid infrastructure of the Ulsan power plant.
The two companies aim to have a prototype hydrogen gas engine by the end of 2024. The partnership also intends to enter the hydrogen power generation market, focusing on the Clean Hydrogen Energy Portfolio Standards (CHPS) to be implemented in 2024.
