Hanwha Q Cells has announced that it will build the world’s largest floating solar power plant in the Hapcheon Dam area located in the South Gyeongsang Province in South Korea. The company obtained the contract from the Korea Water Resources Corporation .
Groundbreaking for the 41 MW power plant is scheduled for later this year.
Hanwha Q Cells will install its Q.PEAK DUO Poseidon solar module in the power plant. This module is designed specifically for floating solar power generation. The module is produced from environmentally-friendly materials, and the company claims it is highly suitable for high-temperature and high-humidity environments. The company has tested the module by exposing it to 85°C and a relative humidity of 85 per cent for 3000 hours.
