Gulf Energy of Thailand buys 49 per cent stake in US gas-fired power plant

Thailand’s Gulf Energy Development has announced that it has invested $409 million to acquire a 49 per cent stake in Jackson Generation, a 1200 MW gas-fired power plant in Illinois, USA. This is Gulf Energy’s first project in the USA.

Yupapin Wangviwat, CFO of Gulf Energy, said: “As electricity demand in the United States continues to increase, Gulf Energy sees the opportunity to develop other power projects and is also considering the potential for additional investments there.”
