Ghana plans to build a floating LNG terminal off its Atlantic Ocean coast to receive imported gas that would be used to generate up to 1500MW by 2016. The terminal will have a capacity of 450 million cubic feet of gas.
Kofi Ellis, Director of Planning and Business Development at the state-run utility Volta River Authority said that a feasibility study will be completed by the end of 2013, and then eight months would be spent on raising funds. The project would be ready for operation in 2016. The cost of the project would be determined after the feasibility study.
