Geregu and Siemens partner in Nigeria to increase capacity at Geregu 1

Geregu Power and Siemens Energy have signed an MOU to jointly develop solutions to increase capacity at Geregu 1 power plant in in Ajaokuta, Koji, Nigeria.

The plan includes increasing the capacity of the plant from 435 MW to 500 MW. Geregu Power said the plan will also lead to the establishment of a CCGT to generate an additional 200 MW and new builds to create the 500 MW Geregu 3, bringing the total combined capacity at the site to 1200 MW. It said that these initiatives are targeted at higher power output, improved efficiency, lower emissions, higher flexibility, and longer equipment lifespan.

In addition, Geregu Power is partnering with the Lagos State Government to deliver the state’s first private electricity transmission network.
