Singapore-based Gen X Energy and ACE Enexor of the Philippines, a subsidiary of AC Energy Corp, have entered into a joint venture to develop a 1100 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in the Philippines. The project will be capable of using natural gas and green hydrogen as its fuel.
The plant will be developed by the joint venture company, Batangas Clean Energy (BCE). Both Gen X Energy and ACE Enexor hold a 50 per cent interest in BCE.
Gen X said that the project will be capable of using both natural gas and green hydrogen as its fuel to provide power to the grid to meet the Philippines’ energy demand and reduce the country’s reliance on coal-fired power generation.
The project will be located in the Batangas Bay Area of the Philippines, close to the load centre of Metro Manila.
