GE has announced that it has won an order from Samsung C&T to supply power generation equipment for PetroVietnam Power ’s Nhon Trach 3&4 power plant in Ong Keo Industrial Park, 70 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. This is GE’s first H-class gas turbine order in Vietnam.
Nhon Trach 3 & 4 is scheduled to deliver 1.6 GW when it starts operation in 2025. It will be Vietnam’s first power plant fuelled by LNG. Once in operation, the new power plant will provide electricity for three large industrial areas in the southern region including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.
GE will provide two blocks of more than 800 MW, each block consisting of a 9HA.02 gas turbine, an STF-D650 steam turbine, a W88 generator an HRSG, and GE’s Mark Vie Distributed Control System.
This project will contribute to Vietnam’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 by replacing coal-fired generation and supporting the rapid expansion of renewable energy.
