GE’s Enhanced 2 MW-127 wind turbine selected for 2.9 GW in North America

GE Renewable Energy has announced that it has secured commitments for 2.9 GW in North America for its variably rated 2.2 MW to 2.5 MW onshore wind turbine with a 127 m rotor. Some of the largest commitments are for projects with Invenergy, NextEra Energy Resources, Lincoln Clean Energy, and Avangrid Renewables.

The 2 MW-127 builds on a GE’s 2 MW platform that has over 5.5 GW installed and operating. GE’s 2 MW platform come digitally-equipped and able to utilise GE’s Predix core applications, including its Asset Performance Management (APM), Cybersecurity, and Business Optimisation (BO) solutions. These enable improved business outcomes, including lifecycle extension of the customers’ wind farms and the improvement of overall farm economics through data-driven insights and actions.
