GE Renewable Energy has announced that it was selected by Powerica to supply 38 of its 2.7-132 onshore wind turbines to be installed at the Rajkot and Khambaliya wind farms in Gujarat, India.
The Rajkot wind farm is located about 40km outside Rajkot city and will comprise 19 onshore wind turbines. The Khambaliya wind farm is located 55km outside of Jamnagar city and will also comprise 19 onshore wind turbines.
Powerica won both contracts through a competitive bidding process organised by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) respectively, and each will have a capacity of 51.3MW each.
Electricity generated by the wind farms will be sold through a 25-year PPA. Power will be distributed to consumers connected to the state grid and national grid respectively.
The GE 2.7-132 wind turbine was primarily designed at GE’s Technology Centre in Bangalore, India, designed for Indian wind conditions.
