GE has announced that it has been awarded a contract with Toshiba Plant Systems and Services Corporation (TPSC) to supply major equipment for the CEL II 135 MW coal-fired power plant in Stung Hav, Sihanoukville, Cambodia. An MoU was also signed between GE and the Camboadian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) to install a Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) to track and analyse the emission levels of power plants nationally.
The power plant will be developed and owned by Cambodian Energy II (CEL II), with TPSC leading the EPC. Under the contract with TPSC, GE will supply the boiler, electrostatic precipitator, and steam turbine generator systems. The facility is scheduled to enter commercial operation in late 2019.
To further support Cambodia’s energy development plans, GE also signed an MoU with Cambodia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy. Under the MoU, GE will implement a Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) application powered by Predix to track and analyse local pollutant emission levels data in all power plants across the country.
GE’s full suite of digital steam solutions has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions by 3 per cent, and reduce fuel consumption by 105,000 tons of coal per year with the same output based on 1000 MW produced.
