Gamesa, the Spanish-based wind turbine maker, has signed an agreement with independent power producer Greenko to supply, erect and commission 80 of its G97-2.0 MW wind turbines in Jaisalmer region in Rajasthan and Basavanabagewadi in Karnataka in the project’s opening phase.
The second phase of the agreement will see Gamesa supply 70 more turbines by September 2015.
The chairman and managing director of Gamesa India said: “We are encouraged by the continued trust reposed by the Greenko group in us as their chosen partners in growth. This successful synergy is greatly attributed to the joint commitment showcased by Greenko and Gamesa in delivering both economically viable and environmentally sustainable power projects in India.”
Gamesa has a portfolio totalling 600 MW with Greenko to date and this agreement further solidifies the partnership between the two organisations.
The chief executive officer and managing director of Greenko said: “In our persuasion towards a sustainable low cost energy generation, we find Gamesa with its G97 -2.0 MW [wind turbine], a good partner for adding capacities to our utility scale wind farm under implementation. The partnership with Gamesa will enhance our shareholder value and accelerates near term business plan.”
