A number of investment proposals for renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan were presented to the Governor of Akmola Oblast, Sergei Kulagin, last week as part of the upcoming EXPO-2017.
One of the projects included a 300 MW wind power plant worth around $397 billion, developed by Chinese Integral Central Asia company.
Another project was a solar power plant in Arshalyn district in Akmola Oblast developed by German KB Enterprises Company. According to the head of the company, Taylan Karamanli, the implementation of the $169 million 100 MW project is scheduled for 2015-2016.
The solar power plant itself is expected to create 20 permanent jobs and around 60 during the construction phase.
To implement the project however, foreign investors will need around 300 hectares of land in the district, but being a foreign company they will only to able to get a long-term lease of the land in Kazakhstan.
