The first GE 9HA gas turbine in Russia has entered service at a power plant in Kazan, in Tatarstan. The 405 MW unit has increased the generating capacity of Kazan CHP3 Power Plant from 385 MW to 790 MW.
The unit will help meet increasing demand from industrial businesses in the region. The project has increased Kazan CHP3’s overall combined heat and power efficiency to 80 per cent. GE worked closely with Gama Power Systems Engineering and Contracting to deliver a turnkey solution.
The HA turbine features advanced materials and a unique airflow design intended to deliver better cooling and combustion performance. The advanced digital control system provides operational efficiency, fast-ramping, and high-efficiency partial load capabilities.
