Power generation is up significantly in Estonia this year after the closure of the Ignalina nuclear plant in Lithuania.
As of October, power generation had risen 67 per cent since the same month in 2009, to 987 GW/h.
Estonia exported a total of 370 GW/h of electricity in October, of which 44 per cent was sold to Latvia, 29 per cent to Lithuania and 27 per cent to Finland.
Overall all, export grew to Finland, where prices are higher, and decreased to the other two Baltics.
The percentage of imported electricity dropped by 5 per cent in Latvia and 8 per cent in Lithuania as CHP plants were launched. Imports remained high though in both countries, 36 per cent in Latvia and 62 per cent in Lithuania.
Estonian consumption of electricity increased in October by 17 per cent from the month before, reaching 670 GW/ h and with renewable sources providing 12 per cent of this.
