Exelon Generation has agreed to take over Entergy Corporation ’s James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant. The agreement is valued at $110 million, and will allow Entergy to transfer the plant’s operating licence, according to Exelon. The New York Power Authority has also agreed to transfer the decommissioning fund and liability for the facility.

Entergy and Exelon have spent recent months trying to enable a method by which the plant could operate beyond its January 2017 shutdown date.
