Monetnegro’s state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) has started groundbreaking for its first wind farm, Gvozd, with a capacity of 54.6 MW. Nordex is the contractor for the €46.4 million project.
EPCG said that the Gvozd wind farm is its first large-scale power generation facility built in more than 40 years. Its projected annual electricity output is 150 GWh.
Nordex will design, procure, supply and install the equipment, as well as commissioning and long-term maintenance of the planned wind power plant to be located on the Krnovo plateau.
Nordex will carry out the work in phases. In addition to eight wind turbines with supporting infrastructure, they will include construction of the 33/110 kV Gvozd substation, the 3.12 km 110 kV single circuit transmission line between the Gvozd substation and the Krnovo substation, and the 14.7 km 110 kV single circuit transmission line between Gvozd and the Nikšić substation. The project also includes the reconstruction of the Krnovo and Nikšić substations.
