Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, said during an Italian parliamentary hearing that the group was already developing two separate solar projects in mature fields close to depletion where it had been already working.
“We are also working on greenfield off-grid solutions in areas that are not easy to access,” he added. He also said that the group was looking into the creation of small energy hubs that could be interconnected.
The Italian state-owned Eni is the largest foreign oil and gas produced in Africa.
