The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity has announced that the country’s first nuclear power plant will be established within the next 24-30 months. The spokesperson added that the 4800 MW nuclear power plant to be built at Dabaa by Russia will be operational by 2026.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi announced in September 2017 that Egypt had finalised the agreement with Russia to build a nuclear power plant at Dabaa, 130 km northwest of Cairo.
According to the terms of the deal, Rosatom will finance and construct four third-generation reactors, each with a capacity of 1200 MW.
