Egypt and the EU have held a meeting to discuss cooperation in the fields of energy, climate change, environment, and green transformation. Egypt aims to become a regional hub for energy production, distribution, and trading, in addition to being the headquarters of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum.
The meeting examined ways to improve cooperation between Egypt and the EU in the energy field, and encourage European firms to invest in new and renewable energy, especially green hydrogen, in Egypt.
Badr Abdel Aty, the Egyptian ambassador to the EU, also discussed the prospects of cooperation around the two liquefaction plants in EDCO and Damietta. The meeting also discussed cooperation in electrical interconnection and power generation from wind and solar energy, as well as the production and export of green hydrogen.
