French power company EDF , which is in the process of being fully nationalised, has announced that it plans to see its 50 per cent stake in the 870 MW Sloe CCGT plant in the Netherlands to Czech power and infrastructure operator EPH . The financial terms of the sale have not been disclosed.
A spokesman for EDF said: “This transaction is part of EDF’s €3 billion asset disposal programme and closing is subject to customary regulatory authorisations.”
The French government, which already owns 84 per cent of EDF, announced in July that it would take full control of EDF to help it fund massive investments to fix its reactors and build new ones. It has said that EDF’s nationalisation, which will cost the state €9.7 billion, will increase the security of its energy reserves, providing assurance against the current uncertainty over gas supplies.
