The Sofia project will deliver an estimated 6.5 TWh of electricity annually. It is scheduled to start generating power from 2025. EDF said that the electricity from the Sofia project will be used to supply domestic and business energy supply customers.

Installation of the Sofia project in the North Sea is scheduled to start in 2023, with first generation due in 2025 and full operation in 2026. The wind farm will consist of 100 turbines.

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director for Customers with EDF, said the PPA was “a major milestone in our progress towards achieving net zero, and will support the UK government’s ambition to grow UK offshore wind capacity to 40 GW by 2030.”
