Doosan Heavy and Korea Western Power to build hydropower plant in Laos

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has announced that it has signed an agreement with Korea Western Power to participate in a hydropower plant construction project in Phou Ngoy, Laos.

The project is being carried out jointly by Charoen Energy and Water Asia (CEWA) of Thailand, which signed a business agreement with the Lao government, and Korea Western Power. The two companies signed an investment agreement with Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corp (KIND) in August.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will jointly develop the 728 MW Phou Ngoy Hydropower Plant, to be built in Champasak, southern Laos. The BOT project will cost $2.4 billion. Doosan Heavy and Korea Western Power will jointly carry out basic design work in January 2021, with construction starting in 2022, and completion is scheduled for 2029.
