Dewa gets five bids to expand solar power complex in desert

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has said that it has received five bids to build 800 MW of solar-powered generation capacity. Developers are bidding to construct the third phase of a Dewa solar park in the desert, according to a statement from Dewa. The lowest-cost bid would provide power for 2.99 cents/kWh.

Dewa said that it will now review technical and commercial aspects of the bids. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of Dewa, said that the company planned to award construction contracts in May.
