Czech electricity demand and generation rise more than 2 per cent

Czech net electricity demand in March rose by 2.3 per cent year-on-year, while the country’s gross power production for the month rose by 2.1 per cent year-on-year, according to the Czech Energy Regulatory Office (ERU).

Czech net power demand was 5.25 TWh, compared with 5.13 TWh in March 2009. Czech total electricity generation was 7.58 TWh compared with 7.42 TWh a year earlier.

ERU does not break down the electricity demand and generation data by company, but the Czech 70 per cent state-owned power utility CEZ has a roughly 56 per cent share of the domestic distribution market and a 70 per cent share of domestic power generation.
