Coal India to make big investment into solar power

Coal India (CIL) has announced that it intends to invest $900 million to set up 1000 MW of solar generation capacity over the next 5-6 years.

Coal India has numerous water bodies in its command areas, and it will take steps to use them for setting up floating solar panels. This will be the first time in several years that Coal India will be raising debt from the market.
