China to install 30 GW of nuclear power under next five year plan

China’s National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission have jointly released the 13th Five-Year Plan for power development. According to the Plan, over the next five years, China will have around 30 GW of nuclear energy facilities going into operation, and have another 30 GW under construction. By 2020, China will have 58 GW of installed nuclear power, up 16.5 per cent year on year.

The Plan said that China will continue to develop nuclear power safety, improve the construction of independent nuclear demonstration projects, and speed up the construction of nuclear projects in coastal regions.
