China has developed the country’s first 300 MW nuclear reactor cooling pump, a critical component of a nuclear plant, and considerably expanding its nuclear power construction capability. The developer, Harbin Electric Corporation , said that the cooling pump has passed state appraisal by the China Machinery Industry Federation . Previously, China had depended on imports for key components of pressurised water reactor nuclear power parts.

Harbin Electric said that the cooling pump is ready for bulk production.
