David Eby, Premier of the Canadian province of British Columbia, has announced that nine wind energy projects have been approved.
BC Hydro selected the projects, four of which will be located in the BC Interior, four in the North, and one on Vancouver Island. Eby said that when complete, the nine wind power projects will generate 5 TWh annually, increasing BC Hydro’s power supply by 8 per cent. The projects are scheduled for completion by 2031 at the latest, and eight of them have a 51 per cent Indigenous equity ownership.
