Botswana has invited bids from IPPs to build a 200 MW solar PV power plant to boost power generation and increase the proportion of renewable energy.
Botswana’s Ministry of Minerals and Energy said that the scope of the bid covers financing, construction, operation and maintenance, as well as decommissioning the plant at the end of its economic life. It said: “The project, comprising of two units each of 100 MW, will be required to be commercially online by 2026/27 and will sell all the energy produced and capacity to the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) through a PPA.”
Submission of bids closes on June 8.
