Europower of Belgium has announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with Sydney and Samuels International, a Nigerian IPP, to supply gensets to the Nigerian market.
Luc Heylands, General Manager of Europower, said: “We have about 40 percent of our market in Belgium, which still needs gensets even with just two five-minute electricity failures in a year. We are here in Nigeria with durable quality generators. We see Nigeria as a huge market for generators because the country will consistently need a lot of infrastructure and agricultural development. We have a market for road and rail construction; there is a market for back-up in telecom operations and farms.”
Samuel Essien, Managing Director and CEO of Sydney and Samuels International, said that his company will be providing generation capacity from 2 KVA to 50 MVA on a single engine. He said: “We have positioned ourselves in this highly competitive field by giving priority to quality and after-sales service, above everything else.”
In addition, following the Nigerian government’s plans to privatise existing generation and distribution companies, Sydney and Samuels have made 51 percent bids for two generation companies, Sapele and Delta State. Delta State has an installed capacity of 1020 MW.
