The Bangladesh Power Division has announced that it has started the process of setting up a 10MW floating solar power plant at Mongla. It said that the project will be got underway as soon as possible.
Mohammad Alauddin, Secretary to the Power Division, said: “A technical committee is now evaluating a proposal of an Indo-Bangla consortium in this regard.” He said that if the committee finds the proposal technically and financially viable, then the Government will proceed to sign a contract to implement the project.
The Mongla Municipality will be an equity partner of the consortium by supplying the water body for the project. It said that it has a water-body on 60 acres of land in Bagerhat district where it runs a water treatment plant.
