Argentina's Secretariat of Energy has said that the country has recently added 65.1 MW of new renewable energy capacity to its electrical grid network.
The addition consists of the 49.5 MW La Elibita 1 wind farm in Buenos Aires province, the 7.2 MW Victorica solar farm in La Pampa, the 5.2 MW Helios Santa Rosa II solar farm in Mendoza, the 2 MW San Luis biogas thermal plant in San Luis, and the 1.2 MW Bell Ville biogas thermal power plant in Cordoba.
The Energy Secretariat said that Argentina now has 220 operational renewable energy power plants, totalling 5961 MW. Renewables – wind, solar, bioenergy and small hydro below 50 MW – accounted for 18.6 per cent of electricity demand in April, 12.4 per cent in May, and 14.3 per cent in June.
