April coal output in China down 11 per cent on year

The National Bureau of Statistics said that China produced 268 million tonnes of coal in April, down 11 per cent of the year, with producers cutting back in an effort to shore up prices.

Thermal power generation hit 328 TWh in April, down 5.9 per cent on the year, though a 10 per cent jump in hydropower generation during the month meant overall volumes fell by just 1.7 per cent to 444.4 TWh.
