Ansaldo Energia wins contract to supply 300MW open cycle plant in Germany

Ansaldo Energia has been awarded an EPC contract on a turnkey basis for the design, supply, and installation of an open-cycle gas-fired power with an installed power capacity of 300MW in Irsching in southern Bavaria, Germany. Irsching 6 will be equipped with a E94.3A gas turbine, generator, and auxiliary systems. The plant will be operational by October 2022. The customer for the contract is Uniper .

The contract is part of the German network reserve project (TSO), which includes tenders in four areas of southern Germany.

Last January, Uniper was awarded a contract by the TenneT network operator for the construction and operation of a reserve plant capable of timely supplying electricity in case of emergency. The purpose of the plant will be to ensure a reliable supply of electricity within the framework of Germany’s strategy to achieve climate improvement objectives.
